Booting from a Floppy Disk

Booting KillDisk for DOS from Floppy for Free version

Prepare and insert a bootable floppy disk. Click here to start the download. This link downloads a zip archive file with the Free version of KillDisk. When the download window appears, unzip and save the executable to the floppy drive. or use the 1 step Bootable Floppy Creation Download and run the Bootable Floppy Disk Creator for Active@ KillDisk (click the link). It already contains all necessary files.

Booting KillDisk for DOS from Floppy for Professional version

Create a bootable floppy (Download and run the Bootable Floppy Disk Creator for Active@ KillDisk). Create a folder on you hard drive called Killdisk. Download your file (the one from the link you received after purchasing the software) to this folder. You should have a folder called Killdisk, with a file KD-SETUP.ZIP in it. This file is a ZIP archive containing all files you need. Extract files from the KD-SETUP.ZIP archive into the Killdisk folder. You will now have a folder containing kd-setup.zip and some other files. Copy to a floppy KILLDISK.EXE, KD_REAL.EXE and DOS4GW.EXE. Boot with a bootable disk. If killdisk and dos4gw.exe files are on the bootable floppy, run killdisk. If they are on a different floppy, remove the bootable floppy and insert the floppy that contains killdisk, and run killdisk.

Download Bootable ISO Image of Active@ KillDisk to burn CD. This downloads an ISO IMAGE (not a regular file) that needs to be burned to the CD AS AN IMAGE (not as an added file).

Bootable ISO Image for KillDisk for DOS Professional version

Download killdisk to burn CD. This downloads an ISO IMAGE (not a regular file) that needs to be burned to the CD AS AN IMAGE (not as an added file). Put the purchased software file on a different CD. Boot from the prepared CD image (see above #2). Switch CD's and run the purchased version of the software. Alternatively, if you are comfortable with ISO images, there is a program WINISO (made by a different software company) that allows you to alter ISO images. You could use this software to remove the killdisk.exe file that is in the demo ISO image, and replace it with the killdisk.exe you got from your purchased version. Then you should have a single bootable CD with the purchased version of the software.

What’s new in version 5.0 (Windows application):

1. New Wipe function that wipes out all unused space on existing drives, not touching existing data.
2. Professional package now includes Windows Vista-based Bootable Disk Creator that allows you to boot Windows Vista from CD/DVD, and to erase or wipe out your disks in Windows environment. USB Plug'n'Play devices are supported.
3. The FREE application can be registered with a registration key without re-installation to be able to erase data using DoD 5220.22-M and other methods.

What’s new in version 4.1 (DOS application):

1. New Wipe function that wipes out all unused space on existing drives, not touching existing data.
2. Package now includes an additional REAL-MODE application (KD_REAL.EXE) which is more compatible with different types of hardware and more compact in size.
